About
The Sandhills AgInnovation Center is a community-driven food hub working to address two urgent challenges: the rapid loss of local farms and the growing need for healthy, accessible food. Located in the south-central Sandhills region of North Carolina, we support farmers and food entrepreneurs with training, shared-use equipment, cold storage, and market access—so they can stay in business and help nourish our communities.
The Sandhills farm economy is still transitioning away from tobacco, looking to other agricultural enterprises and new markets to strengthen profits and economic growth. As farming becomes harder to sustain, SAIC is investing in the people and infrastructure that keep local food systems alive. By connecting farmers to markets and neighbors to fresh food, we’re building a more just, resilient, and food-secure Sandhills.
